Farmers’ Adaptation to Covid-19 Pandemic in Akwa Ibom State

The study focused on how farming communities cope with the COVID-19 pandemic in Akwa Ibom State. Specifically, farmers are affected by pandemic, their coping strategies, contributions of extension service towards adaptation, and support they need to better adapt were examined. A multistage sampling procedure was used selecting 300 respondents across agricultural zones area. Descriptive statistics analyse data obtained from through a well-designed questionnaire. majority have experienced limited access inputs (87.9%), market (79.6%), unavailability labour force at critical times production harvesting (68.7%), health risk fear (72.6%), increased transportation cost (87.4%), facemasks hand sanitizers (89.1%), dwindling uncertain finances (92.4%). Majority asserted that had rely more radio (87.6%), religious leaders (67.2%), community (65.4%), agents (45.3%) for COVID-19-related information. They depended herbs traditional medications (72.4%) trek long distances farm produce get (69.7%) impact pandemic. Contributions services reported majorly text messages phone calls. solicited regular assessment impacts identify other specific challenges needs timely response.
